welcome to my blog!
here you will read about my adventures with my newfound little sister, olivia.
she is such a sweetheart. i am not kidding.
you will not meet a sweeter spirit.
olivia is a twelve year old girl in my ward who has some disabilities.
it is very hard to describe and the name of her disability is big long word i can't even spell or say, for that matter! olivia understands more than she can communicate, too.
it's taken me a while, but i feel like i can finally understand what she is saying most of the time.
this whole thing started because i was looking for a more permanent service opportunity.
i wanted something that i could do that wasn't only a one hour deal.
so, my little sister project was born!
i contacted Olivia's mom (who is such an amazing woman, by the way) and asked if it would be okay if once a week i played with olivia.
she said yes, and it all began!
so now, every tuesday olivia and i hang out and do various activities for an hour and a half.
and let me tell you, it has been such a blessing.
i really needed this, and Heavenly Father knew that!
this little girl has humbled me in so many ways, and i have learned a lot about myself.
so with that said, i hope that I can inspire at least one person from this blog, even if it's in a tiny way.
thank you for reading and enjoy!
Emily,
ReplyDeleteYou have inspiried at LEAST one person! ME! I am so honored to be your grandma. You have truly caught the spirit of "Love One Another" and "When you have done it unto the least of these, ye have done it unto Me". You are truly following the example of Christ and doing what he has intended for all of us to do. In the process you have been blessed, as you bless Olivia's life......that is exactly how service is supposed to work. I love you Ems! Thanks for being who you are!
